Register for Pollinator Champions

This page will guide you through the Pollinator Champions registration process. Pollinator Champions is part of the Michigan State University D2L online learning site. Pollinator Champions is free and open to anyone- you do not have to be an MSU staff or student. If you are not affiliated with MSU, registration will be different than if you are an MSU staff or student. See instructions for registration below.

Non-MSU Staff/Students: Follow the instructions below to register for this course if you are not a Michigan State University staff member or student:

  1. Create your MSU Community ID and Password: Community ID Instructions: Create Your Account
  2. Login to the registration system with your Community ID and PasswordPollinator Champion Online Course
  3. Follow the instructions to register for the course. Upon registration you will receive a receipt and instructions for accessing the course.

Michigan State University Staff/Students: Register for this course using your MSU NetID and Password: MSU Staff/Student Registration

To Access Your Online Course

After you have successfully registered for the course:

LOGGING INTO THE ONLINE COURSE
If you have registered, follow the instructions below to login – you will use the same login credentials that you set during registration (your NetID is your email address used during registration and use the same password set during registration). We have also created an online video which will help you get started with D2L (D2L stands for Desire2Learn and is the platform for Michigan State University online courses): VIDEO: Pollinator Champions Course Navigation.
 
To login to the course:
 
1.       Go to the Michigan State University’s Online Course System (known as Desire2Learn or D2L): https://d2l.msu.edu/
2.       Click on the Login button
3.       In the MSU NETID field enter your email address (enter the same email used during registration)
4.       Enter the password you set during registration
5.       You will be logged into D2L - click on the course title in the My Courses area
*Note: If you need to reset your password go to: https://community.idm.msu.edu/ and select the option for Forgot Password.

If you have any technical problems, please contact the Michigan State University IT Service Desk from 7am-12am Monday through Friday and 10am-12am on Saturday/Sunday any day that the University is open.

Registration is free for everyone. If you have already taken the course and want to become an official Pollinator Champion and give pollinator talks to local organizations, visit our Pollinator Champions Certification page.

If you are a Master Gardener, you can receive 6 hours of continuing education for completing this course. 

FAQ
 
1.       What is my username/NETID?
Your username (or NET ID) is the email address you used to create your account during registration (you use the same email address/password for registering and for taking the course).
2.       What URL do I go to for logging into the course?
Go to: https://d2l.msu.edu/You will see the Michigan State University at the top of the page.
 
3.       I received a “not authenticated” response when trying to login – what do I do?
A “not authenticated” message is typically an issue with a password not being entered correctly. To reset your password at any time go to: https://community.idm.msu.edu/ and select the option for Forgot Password. You will receive an email from a sender called “Community ID” with a link to reset your password.
 
4.       I forgot my password – where can I reset it?

5.       How do I receive my certificate?
The free course is called Pollinator Champions. In this course you will find all of the content and activities, and can receive online badges for completing each unit. If you want a certificate of completion and presentation materials for teaching others about pollinators, register for the Pollinator Champion Certificate Materials course. This course has a fee of $30.00 and only includes the certificate of completion (printable/downloadable) and presentation materials. You must complete the free online course before enrolling in the Pollinator Champion Certificate Materials course.  
 
6.       Who can I call for technical support?

Please contact the Michigan State University IT Service Desk from 7am-12am Monday through Friday and 10am-12am on Saturday/Sunday any day that the University is open.
